States will receive funding under the infrastructure law to implement broadband access.
President Joe Biden gave an address from the White House this week, announcing $42 billion to make high-speed internet universal in all 50 states by 2030. The funding will be distributed through the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program, which was created through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in 2021.
The funding will be divided between the states according to population and necessity for rural development. Texas will receive the most funding, $3.1 billion, and California the second-most funding at $1.9 billion.
President Biden said, “It’s the biggest investment in high-speed internet ever. Because for today’s economy to work for everyone, internet access is just as important as electricity, or water, or other basic services.”
